Behavioral risks of injecting drugs users in the context of HIV/AIDS epidemic
The results of sociological investigation on injecting drug users' risky behavior tending to the HIV infection are analyzed in the article.
Actuality of the research is underlined by a higher rate of HIV/AIDS epidemic expansion among the groups of risk such as injecting drug users and commercial sex workers. The risk group of drug users is the most dangerous in the context of epidemic expansion that could be explained by combining the two ways of infection # venous drug injecting and unsafe sexual contacts.
Article provides the analysis of specific indicators of sociological monitoring on drug users behavior, in particular: drug using, duration of drug using, injecting drug using, joint using of injecting equipment during the last time of venous drug using, absence of practice of joint syringe and needle using in the last month, joint non medical using of injecting equipment, injecting drug users having access to sterile needles, and the number of injecting drug users rendering sexual services for money or drugs.
