This article proposes a methodological approach for monitoring the spatial economic transformations in the region’s economy as well as the author’s vision of the purpose and objectives of the monitoring. The starting point is not only academic, but also practical application of the results of the monitoring to practical management activities. Then universal criteria and indicators are proposed with which spatial economic transformations and their type are determined. In relation to the region’s economy spatial economic transformations monitoring its algorithm and principles are worked out. The model of monitoring the spatial economic transformation of the region is presented in the form of consistent procedures, starting from the analysis of the main parameters of economic activity in the region and ending with the evaluation of the results of the spatial economic transformations that occurred in the region. In accordance with the proposed approach monitoring becomes a closed loop, forming a detailed information field of spatial economic transformations and their consequences, thus becoming a significant factor influencing managerial decision- making at the regional level.
