Tagybaybulak Settlement in Central Kazakhstan
The settlement of Tagybaybulak is located in the Bayanaul district of the Pavlodar Region. The monument was studied for the first time in 1974. In A. Kh. Margulan’s publication of 1979 this settlement was dated as late Bronze Age. Later, in 1987 V.G. Loman stated the presence of Dongal signs in the ceramics of Tagybaybulak .At the beginning of XXI c. after finding a number of early Saka settlements in Central Kazakhstan and integrating data from across original sources including the found objects, the received data drew much interest. In 2013 in cooperation with A.E. Kasenalin the survey of dwelling 2 in that settlement were carried out. The form and ornamentation the ceramics of dwelling 2 is similar to the ware from earlier studied settlements belonging to the early Saka time of Central Kazakhstan. The absence of Dongal signs in the new collection raises much interest. On the territory of the dwelling the centers bordered with stone plates were not revealed, there were no slag and other traces of metallurgical production, there were no tools common for mining. The distance between dwellings 1 and 2 is about 10 metres, nevertheless, they probably existed in two stages. The XRF data of dwelling 2 carried out at Royal University of Belfast (Great Britain) referred it to the second half of VIII – the beginning of the V centuries BC. The materials of the settlement of Tagybaybulak are very important in researching the initial stage of early Saka settlements development in Central Kazakhstan.
