The trends of higher education in Altai Region

The article cover the current situation and its trends in higher education in Altai Region since 1993 up to 1998. Notwithstanding the economy of region find itself in a situation of the depression the one can notice a growth of students and teachers in high schools. One can also notice a stabile admitting rates increasement.
It's also changing a situation in structure of higher education. It's noticeable growth a part of those who have a studies in humanity, economics and management. The amount of professors enlarges in accordance with increasement of students. Especially a great growth is seen in Altai State University, from 36 to 64 for last 5 years.
But the amount of professors with candidate and doctor's degree is fallen.
It must be stressed that the increasement of private high schools and students who pay for their education themselves has enormous rates.
