The Subsoil Burial Ground Teleutskiy Vzvoz-I (the Results of Studies of 2002)
The article is devoted to the publishing of new archaeological materials obtained through the excavation at the ancient burial ground Teleutskiy Vzvoz-I in 2002. The monument is located on a high (up to 70 meters) cape of the left bank of the Ob, 5 km to the North- East of the Elunino village of the Pavlovskiy District in the Altai Region. The excavated area of the monument in 2002 amounted to 302 square meters. Seven burials, remains of ritual structures in the form of ditches and pits (two filled with grain) were studied. The studied complexes (graves no. 37–42) belong to the early Bronze Age and are associated with Eluninskaya Archaeological Culture dated to XXIII–XVIII centuries B.C. This is proved by planigraphy, features of the burial rite and things around. During the excavation work a ditch of the late Bronze Age mound was studied where a vessel characteristic of Irmenskaya Culture was found. The middle ages are represented by a birch bark grave of a child. Thus, new materials resulting from the excavation of the burial ground Teleutskiy Vzvoz-I complemented the available data on three cultural and chronological complexes previously recorded on the monument.
