Some Aspects of Alcohol Market Formation in Siberia in the Period of Excise System Validity in the Second Half of the XIX Century
The article considers the processes of the formation of the market of alcoholic beverages in Western Siberia in the second half of the 19th century. Authors noted that after the introduction in the 60th of the 19th century in the region of the excise system private distilling and beverage production in Siberia began to develop rapidly. Stimulated the development data group of production relative cheapness of raw materials, primarily grain, high cost of delivery of alcoholic beverages from European Russia to launch Siberian railway, and consumption growth in most of Siberia, primarily due to the rapid population growth. The article shows: the dynamics of distilling and beverage production (number of plants, their productivity, product range, sales infrastructure in this sector (wholesale and retail) are the biggest entrepreneurs in the sphere of production and marketing. Discusses issues of alcohol consumption are the main categories of the population: peasants, citizens, workers, gold craftsman, indigenous peoples. The conclusion about the formation of the market of alcoholic beverages to the end of the 19th century, which was dominated by local products and it meets the needs of the local market in quantitative and qualitative terms. Attention was drawn to the high quality of the products of several companies, as evidenced by the participation of Siberian plants in the all-Russian industrial exhibition and to receive their diplomas and awards.
