The Negative Methodology of Morality
The article is devoted to the problem of the philosophy of science «negative methodology» which has not been sufficiently studied before. In particular, much attention is paid to the lack of theoretical analysis of the peculiarities of negative methodology in the field of morality. The author reveals the practical importance of methodology in the sphere of negative morality. Negative methodology is considered as a part of the overall methodological knowledge, represented in a negative form and indicating the ways and methods which the scientist should avoid to solve the problem successfully. The traditional understanding of the methodology as the doctrine of scientific cognition methods is subjected to criticism in the article. The author offers his own interpretation of methodology. The structural and logical difference of method and methodology is revealed as well as their functional similarity. The heuristic value methodology is approved in the article. The author points out two aspects of the negative methodology of moral consciousness. The examples of negative-methodological recommendations in the sphere of morality are represented in the article. The author analyzes such phenomena of moral consciousness as the conceit in scientific activities, the underestimation of the achievements of predecessors, the closure in the circle of his opinions. This knowledge may be useful for university teachers, undergraduates and post-graduate students, as well as all for those who are interested in the problems of morality and philosophy.
