Jewelry of the Altai Mountains Population in Hun-Sarmatian Period
Jewelry production of the Altai Mountains in Hun-Sarmatian time included the processing of ferrous metals, precious, semiprecious and ornamental stones and glassmaking. Jewelry production is presented by worn-next-to the skin decorations(metal earrings, and the hryvnia, stone and glass beads and pendants), costume decorations (metal emblems, plates and pendants, charms, braid, tiaras, buckles and others). Demand for metal jewelry in that period was most likely satisfied by skillful craftsmen. It is indicated by a certain set of operations, instruments and decorations style. That does not concern stone cutting and glassmaking, which, probably, were subsidiary industries and, though part of jewelry production, were not performed by metalworkers. This work examines production traces on a series of similar decorations of non-ferrous metals, stone and paste produced by the population of the Altai Mountains in Hun-Sarmatian period. The findings of the research enabled the author to draw a conclusion regarding the technology of production process and instrumentation wizard.
