Plaque of the Mythological Subject from Central Kazakhstan
The article concerns with a plaque from Central Kazakhstan, found at the excavation site of elite burial mound of early Saka time. It was found inside the annular sacrificial place, a part of a 6-meter kurgan located between a moat and a banket. The plaque subject from Central Kazakhstan may be one of the Scythian- Saka earliest images of an armor-clad warrior. Similar armored characters were found at the burial sites of early nomads in Central Asia, Kazakhstan, China, Siberia. The subject finds parallels in the early nomadic culture and monuments of the Middle Ages. The plaque is marked with elaborate skill in depicting parts of the image, the projection of important details, reflecting the subject of the composition. The hobbler is assumed to be one of the key characters, the lying warrior being also important. The characters sitting at the bottom of the composition play a subordinate role. The brief study of the characters and the subject may imply a mythological background of the scene depicted. The plaque may depict a mythological subject well-known to contemporaries, for example, the scene of paying last respect to the hero.
