Psycholinguistic mechanisms of linguistic manipulation in the process of verbal communication are discussed in this article. Insufficiency of descriptive linguistic approach to the problem of explaining the phenomenon of the linguistic manipulation is emphasized. Verbal and linguistic manipulations are differentiated in the article. The psychological and linguistic mechanisms of manipulation on conscious and unconscious level of verbal communication are analyzed.
