Homecoming of Old Believer Community: a Stranger among Strangers, a Stranger among His Own People?
The article is devoted to problem of adaptation of old believer community returned from Latin America to the Russian Far East. Their ancestry left the homeland in the thirties of the last century. Present generation of old believers was born and has grown up abroad, but they managed to save natural language and culture, and identify themselves with the Russian. But neither settlers nor receiving society was prepared to full-fledged relations. The author made an effort to analyze the mechanisms and practices of mutual adaptation, which are being used or may be used in this situation.
