The paper is devoted to the problem of localization of cattle-breeding nations during the Late Scyphian age at the frontiers of Chinese states. In order to determine lands occupied by Linhu, Donghu, Loufan and Siungnu people at that period of time the author using modern methods of literary sources analysis offers its own original translations, interpretations and datings of ancient Chinese texts which indicate the mentioned tribes. Localization based on narrative sources was defined by means of involving data about the archaeologically traced #long walls# at the Northern frontiers of Yan, Qin, Zhao States. The next part of investigation concerns the material culture of cattle-breeding peoples of the #northern outlying districts#. Elements which distribution corresponds in time and space to areas of tribes# settling, determined according to the data of literary sources and localized #long walls#. It is supposed that these elements can be their ethnic indicators.
