Phenotype formation in the first generations of Triticum durum Desf. x Triticum timopheevii Zhuk. interspecies wheat hybrids

The phenotype diversity and seedfertility of the F2 and F1B1 T. durum x T. timopheevii hybrid generations were studied. It was shown the examined genotypes are characterized by a wide phenotype polymorphism. Durum group is the biggest and the most fertile. Intermediate phenotype plants compose the third part of the populations and have the similar fertility to F1 hybrids. The amount of timopheevii type plants in F2 is higher than that in F1B1 by 4 times. The aestivum type plants were revealed in all populations. The seedfertility is not determined by spike morphotype. It was supposed genetic control of the reproductive and morphological features is different.
