The author analyses the category "typical", which is used in the study of art of social history and philosophy. The problem is that this category is vagueness and there are contradictory opinions on this problem. The Starting-point of analysis is the statement that this category is "typical" is necessary for historical reality and it is not an abstract structure. The process of search of "typical" connects indissoluble with typification which shows in different forms and realizes precisely in conformity with appointed principles.
