Pottery of the Tolokonnoe-1 Settlement (Technical and Technological Analysis)
The work is devoted to the ceramic complex of the Tolokonnoe-1 setttlement. It is established that the pottery corresponds to the traditions of Irmen culture of Western Siberia. The ceramic set is based on Irmen component which is expressed primarily in geometrism, but at the same time it is combined with various kinds of the roller including the one of the Dongalsk type, on the edge of the corolla. Traditional motifs of the transition period are also commonly used: a double row of mother of pearl with a border line. The use of more than four rows along the body of mother of pearl gives the décor its special originality. To carry out technical and technological analysis of pottery of the settlement, selection was made of 18 samples (fragments of the corolla) from different vessels examined with a binocular microscope MBS-10. The main objective of the work was to identify the specificity of the cultural traditions of the two stages of the production process. The research was made of the raw materials selection and preparation of molding compositions relating to the preparatory stage of the manufacture of ceramics. The authors distinguish two traditions in the use of gravel, related to its dimension and concentration. Materials settlement Tolokonov-1 shows the evolution of the original Irmen tradition associated with the influence of steppe cultures.
