The Professional Competence of the Historian: the Role of E-Learning Technologies in Their Formation (Based on the Materials of the “Source Study” Course)
to master the methods of working with a variety of historical sources, the ability to extract the historical information from them, to evaluate its authenticity, to attribute this or that historical source. Therefore it is no coincidence that “Source Study” occupies one of the central places in the system of students’ professional historical training. The article describes the possibilities of using e-learning technologies to shape professional competences of the historian (based on the materials of “Source Study” course): remote learning, search and evaluation of the information potential of web-resources on history (digitized historical sources, databases, websites of professional historical communities, etc), using information methods of processing historical sources. Using of remote educational technologies and public information resources on history provides a comprehensive toolkit to organize a multi-level educational program and allows students to develop their professional competence. The article concludes that the e-learning course on the source study enriches the teacher’s arsenal of teaching possibilities, helps students efficiently plan their educational process, expands the understanding of the information potential of the Internet network and the historical sources presented in it, helps students to learn new methods of historical research using new information technologies.
