The Andronovo Ceramic Complex of the Korovya Pristan’-III Settlement on Lake Itkul
This article analyzes the series of ceramics of Korovya Pristan’-III Andronovo settlement. This paper is based on the material accumulated in the course of archaeological excavations under the guidance of B. Kadikov in the year of 1962 and Yu. Kiryushin in the years of 1978 and 1979. For the analysis we used a representative sample of Andronovo vessels fragments (609 pieces). The following parameters were investigated: processing of internal and external surface of the vessels, vessel wall thickness, ornament application technique, ornamental schemes; Corollas helped to determine the vessel shape and the diameter of its neck. The works of V. Gening, I. Rudkovsky, N. Tkacheva and A. Tkachev formed the methodological basis of the study. Based on the analysis and classification of Korovya Pristan’-III ceramic series the specific features of monument’s household cookware were identified. The same general trend was found for vessel shapes and ornament. The peculiarities of cookware ornamental patterns made it possible to compare the Korovya Pristan’-III monument to other monuments of the Andronovo culture found in the Ob river upper area. On the basis of the analysis a hypothesis of cultural and chronological proximity of Korovya Pristan’-III settlements to another Andronovo settlement named Shlyapovo and situated in the Ob river area near Novosibirsk was put forward.
