The Main Aspects of Сostume Study of South Siberia and Its Borderlands Nomads in Khunnu-Xianbi-Zhuzhan Time (II Century B. C. — V Century A. D.)
The study of material culture of Central Asian ancient nomads has drawn the attention of Russian and foreign researchers for years. One of the topical issues in archeological research is arrangement of the received information on the costume of South Siberian population of Late Antiquity. The research analyzes history of studying costume of nomads from Khunnu- Xianbi-Zhuzhan time in the middle of the XIX and at the beginning of the XXI century. Summarizing the works of Russian and foreign scientists the author identified three periods, which demonstrates development of knowledge about costumes of nomads in Late Antiquity. This issue mentioned was widely studied by Russian scholars in the 1920s — 1980s. That period saw the accumulation of a large number of archaeological sources which had to be interpreted. New complex approach in studying the costume wore by nomadic societies emerged. This resulted in establishing a number of specific features of ancient peoples clothes. The current research works have presented original reconstructions of clothes belonging to Bulan-Koby and Tashtyk cultures peoples based on archaeological and visual sources.
