The Statistical Analysis of the Frequency of Different Chronological Elements in Sophiiskaya First Chronicle
The discovery, analysis and reduction of the chronological systems of the past is one of the major objectives in historical chronology. Some of the fragments of these systems are widely introduced in chronicles. The present article is devoted to the statistical analysis of the frequency of different chronological elements in Sophiiskaya first chronicle. Nowadays much attention is paid to the analysis of the content of chronicle texts as well as to the comparative textual examination but in such cases the data of chronology are often left unconsidered. However, sets of the Chronicles borders discovered by researchers in textual analysis of different chronicles can be proved or denied with the help of the historical chronological analysis that allows fixing the change of chronological systems. The given article addresses the question of the chronological elements analysis discovered in Novgorod chronicles and namely in Sophiiskaya first chronicle (Old Recension). The author comes to the conclusion that this history book contains both Christian (Easter, menologion) and pagan (relative chronology, dynastic epochs) chronological calculations.
