Criminological Aspects of Copyright Protection in the Internet
Internet is a huge digital library which offers vast amounts of information mostly freely available. Information and communications technologies have significantly lowered the barriers to disseminate any information in a digital form, including works relating to the objects of copyright. Not only a well-known writer, but without exaggeration, everyone can use the Internet to make the result of his work available to any person anywhere in the world. The audience gets the international scale due to the Internet. The Internet provides possibilities for new forms of legitimate content distribution and delivery of information to a large number of people. On the other hand, along with the legal forms, piracy and infringement of intellectual property rights are thriving. Solving the problem is complicated by the fact that copyrights are largely national character, information and telecommunication technologies are inherently global. Criminological analysis of the legal protections of copyright law in the Internet led to the formulation (no claim to exclusivity and repudiation) of suggestions to improve certain provisions of civil and criminal law.
