Evolution of Early Medieval Turks` Social System in Central Asia in the Period of Dependence on China
The article presents the experience to reconstruct early medieval Turks` of Central Asia social system evolution in the period of dependence on China (630– 679 A.D.). To date the specifics of socio-political development of nomads have been poorly understood. It is connected, mainly, with inconsistency of written and archaeological sources which complicates the study of changes in nomad’s society during the considered period. However, the detailed analysis of available materials, including recent research results allowed to reveal the main tendencies in dynamics of nomad’s society. Apparently, the social system of early medieval Turks did not experience dramatic changes in 630–679 A.D. Basic changes were observed only in administrative and political organization, the analysis of the situation on the periphery of the former First khaganate being rather complicated. Obviously, on the periphery of nomadic empires including the territories of the Altai-Sayan region isolated nomadic tribes kept considerable degree of independence, keeping aloof from large agricultural and military centers.
