The Role N.L. of Chlenova in the Study of the Monuments of the Late Bronze Age in South-West Siberia
The article is devoted to N.L. Chlenova research of the monuments of Late Bronze. In the course of the work N.L. Chlenova’s main works related to the research of Irmenskaya culture were summarized and analized. The author hascome to the conclusion that N.L. Chlenova research marked the beginning of a new stage in the study of the monuments of Late Bronze age in the South of Western Siberia, as a result of which Irmenskaya culture monuments became the object of study. She also determined tentative boundaries of the culture and its time frame. She defines it as VIII – VII centuries BC. N.L. Chlenova paid a grat deal of attention to the issues of the division of Irmenskaya culture into periods. Some of N.L. Chlenova’s works are devoted to the research of Irmenkaya culture monuments of Altai, which is also given attention to in this article. N.L. Chlenova gave answers to the questions of the origin of Irmenskaya culture, she specified Andronovo origin of Irmenskaya culture, as well as the impact of Karasukskaya culture on its development. The author comes to the conclusion that N.L. Chlenova’s ideas were not immediately accepted by other researchers and now there is still some opposition to her findings ( such as the chronology of the culture).
