Classification and Typology the Sayan-Altai Turkic Peoples Females Jewelry in the Late 19th– Early 20th Centuries
The article is devoted to the topic of Sayan-Altai Turkic peoples female jewelry classification and typology. Special studies of this topic have not yet been conducted. Having involved a wide range of materials from national and regional museums, as well as earlier publications on the topic of the research highlighted the jewelry complex, consisting of the head, neck, breast, waist and wrist jewelry. These groups are divided into several types, classes and subclasses. The article is based on more than 500 depository items, which determines the appropriate classification and typology of the Sayan- Altai Turkic peoples traditional female jewelry. The framework set of the Turkic peoples of the area includes – ring-shaped earrings, girls plait decoration in the form of brushes, women paired plait decoration connecting the ends of the plait, rings and belt ornaments. At the same time, within the region, the complex of female jewelry among the Turkic peoples varies. The most replete set is collection of the Khakass female jewelry that includes temple pendants, bracelets and breastplates in addition to items common to other Turkic peoples.
