«Generation C» Online Sociality: Phenomenology of Public Intimacy
Virtualization of mass communications brought significant changes into the functioning of society public sphere. Defining factors of social order have been shifted into online social networks domain. Media environment has become the construct of public sphere, and the main subject of network communication is the «Connected Collective Consumer» and content creator. Immanent knowledge domination leads to the appearance of «public intimacy» phenomenon as basic means of communication. The foundations of social order are formed with individual values and beliefs of communicators which results in a new type of implicit sociality. What kind of public sphere has been created by the «Generation C»? Netocracy being the new ruling elite of digital era puts its hopes on the “Generation C”. This generation is a full-fledged society with its own hierarchy, social statuses, markers of communication and order, forms of social identification and methods of self-presentation in real public space. Post-secular, post-ideological phenomenology of the «Generation C» is formed by transition of immanent self-organized forms into the system with the new social order. Public sphere of this generation makes itself known in critical times of social life with the signs of socioegocentric evaluation of situations and events and with the real participation in social interaction.
