Extraction System without an Organic Solvent Water – Antipyrine – Sulfosalicylic Acid
Exfoliating system with sulfosalicylic acid is safe and environmentally friendly, as the only component of the liquid is water and the solids are slightly toxic. Produced as a result of acid-base interactions of antipyrine and sulfosalicylic acid organic phase exists in a narrow range of pH (1,3-2,0); its volume depends on any factor, shifting the balance of this protolytic reaction, that is, the addition of acids, alkalis, salting-out agents. In triple system water – antipyrine – sulfosalicylic acid hard cations such as iron (III) in the form of cationic complexes with antipyrine as rigid ligand are extracted in the organic phase. List of extracted elements depends on anionic background of aqueous phase and expands in the presence of anionic ligands, especially thiocyanate ions. There is a correlation between the efficiency of extraction of the element and the stability of its acido-complexes with the anion of salting-out agent.
