Construction and Development of Electric Urban Railroads (Tram) in Cities of the Russian Empire in the End of the XIXth Century
The sharp increase of urbanizations rates at the end of the XIXth century has caused a requirement to build public transports system, which would be characterized by large transportation capacity and, simultaneously, by low operational costs. In order to search successful decision of this problem the Russian engineers used American experience and with financial support of foreign transport companies in big cities of the Russian Empire were built urban electrical railroads (trams) systems, which has given an opportunity to solve a problem of transport service of inhabitants for the long period of time.
