Social and Enlightening Activities of Priests in Parishes in the Second Half of the XIXth - the Beginning of the XXth Centuries (on the Example of the Yenisei Province)

The article determines the main spheres of priests’ activity in parishes. Countryside priests were the main enlighteners and mentors for their flock. They managed parochial schools, fought against drinking and organized charity actions. A priest’s authority among peasants depended to a large extent on his activity and initiative.
