Migrants as a Part of Townspeople of Western Siberia in the End of the XIXth - the Beginning of the XXth Centuries

Formation of urban population in Siberia in the second half of the XIXth century had much in common with the development of Russian provincial towns in the European Russia. On the other hand, it is possible to allocate specific features: 1) Siberia was a region of intensive colonization and migratory streams went mainly from the European Russia, 2) Siberia was a place of the mass exile. The urban population was replenished not only by migrants from European Russia and natural increase, but also by settlers from countryside. The mechanical increase of the population in cities considerably prevailed over a natural increase. In the beginning of XXth century scales of migration increased and the quantity of regions from which migrants moved to Siberian cities extended. Especially it became appreciable after building of the Trans Siberian railway. The share of migrants depended on a size of city, sex and estate structure of townspeople.
