An ethnic costume both ancient and a relatively modern one is an important historic source for getting information not only about the material culture but also about the spiritual life of people wearing it. The reconstruction of an ancient costume is the first stage of the investigation of its semantics. Such a reconstruction is hypothetic, because it#s impossible to reconstruct many elements of the Volga Finns# costume, but it helps to imagine the position of decorations and the remained parts of the foot-wear, clothes, etc, which makes the basis for the further semantic interpretation of a costume.
