Cooperation Forms Between the Urals and Siberian Stone-Cutting Industries under His Imperial Majesty Cabinet in XIXth - early XXth

The present research is the first to explore the relationship and cooperation between the Urals and Siberian stone-cutting industries under His Imperial Majesty Cabinet. To bring some insights into this rather complicated issue the article reveals business records on cooperation in the matters of raw materials, administration, social activity and transportation between the Gornoshitsk marble plant, Yekaterinburg lapidary and Kolyvan grinding factories. With all these three being fully efficient, the Cabinet, however, favored the Kolyvan grinding factory (which at times lacked the proper manufacturing conditions) stating that the factory was set up in the territory under its jurisdiction. Meanwhile, the economic status of the Gornoshitsk plant and Yekaterinburg factory was internationally downgraded.
