From the History of Annexing Southern Altai to Russia in the Middle of 50s of the XVIII Century
The article based on a wide range of published domestic and foreign sources, as well as archival materials exposed by the author in the central and regional archives, highlights the ambiguous process of the Russian-Altaic relationship, led in the mid 50s years of XVIII century to the adoption of Russian citizenship by the native peoples of the Southern Altai and the role played by tribal rulers of Altaic tribes and ethnic groups in this process.
