The article is devoted to U.S. policy regarding to the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, which was a first stage of European integration. After the uncertain period 1945-1946, as contradictions between USSR and USA increased and economical crises in the European countries suffered during the World War II became deeper, G. Truman's administration favored the creation united West Europe. Marshall Plan, set up in 1947, helped Western Europeans to stabilize economies at the expense of American financial aid, but couldn't encourage them to go further in their integration. The article focuses on attempts of American diplomacy to faster process of integration by use their own projects and in a future - to support the Schuman plan and prospects on uniting mining and foundry industries.
