This article analyzes the marital status of the population of Khakasia in 1950-1970s comparing the dynamics of entering into ethnically homogeneous and mixed marriages within the indigenous Khakass and Russian ethnic groups, as well as the newly arrived people, who lived scattered among them. As the factors affecting the marriages, the author considers ethnic and demographic indicators such as the dynamics of number of population and its sex-age structure, ethnic composition, and especially the resettlement of peoples and their possible contacts.
