The article touches upon the problem of domestic and foreign experience in the activities of the Altai designers. The starting period of fashion design in the 1960-1990s as a part of the economic and social development of the USSR was aimed at improving material and cultural level of the society and all-round development of personality. The restoration and preservation of Altai House of Fashion Design, as well as 36 Houses open in the capitals of the Union republics and in the large industrial centers is an integral part of the history of the Altai Territory. The paper researches the first Soviet fashion magazines, presents a list of foreign magazines, translated into Russian; defines the instructional materials, and the degree of their influence on the clothes design and effective production services of the Altai Territory. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the structure reviews, fashion trends, characteristic sketches and reproduction.
