The article deals with the value system of the personality, physical and spiritual development of students. The concepts «subject values» as a product of daily material and spiritual activity of people and «subjective values » as installations, requirements, that have been formed for ages and are expressed as behavioral norms, are observed. The article considers the promotion of healthy lifestyles of students as a special socio-demographic group, as applied to contemporary Russian society, the problem is topical firstly, because the rate of health deterioration among young people is getting worse and secondly, students frequently demonstrate health-destroying behaviors. Therefore, focus is made on promotion of a healthy lifestyle among young people as the most important factor in ensuring their viability and creative activity. Analysis is made of humane-value sphere of contemporary students; assessment is given to the most significant social and moral values, identified by means of a poll. The poll made it possible to reveal the problems in the value sphere of contemporary youth. It turned out that family, health, lawobedience, money and mutual help are the most important values for the students. The criterion for success for students is education, while communicative skills and concatenation of circumstances are not considered significant.
