Modernization of the Inside Area of Tomsk (2nd Half of XIX — Beginning of XX)

An exploration of city area as a multilateral phenomenon is one of the most promising themes in Russian urban history now. So, researches of transformation occurring in the urban areas especially during the period of quick changes are the most difficult. This article makes an attempt to describe the modernization of the city inside area of Tomsk — one of the most important centers in Siberia. Tomsk was an important economic, political, research and education center at the high of its development. It affected the modernization of Tomsk city area which was rather quick and successful. The city inside area planning was accompanied by proficient administration of the process. Different functional zones such as industrial and transport zones as well as vast suburban territory were formed in Tomsk during that period. At the beginning of XX century Tomsk city inside area organization met the requirements of a developed early-industrial city of Europe and European part of Russia.
