Municipal Elections in the Lower Volga Region: Electoral Anomaly?

This article determines the causes and manifestations of heightened influence of the opposition parties in the municipal elections in the Lower Volga Region (2007-2011). The author focuses on long-term social and political factors of the protest vote.
