Peculiarities of Historical Development of Siberia in Assess Given by G.N. Potanin

The article is devoted to the activities of Russian scientist and explorer, social activist G.N. Potanin in the study of Siberia and the promotion of his ideas and his associates for the revival of the region. The author touches G.N. Potanin`s views on colonization of Siberia, the history of development of Siberian lands by the first settlers and the opening the university. In conclusion, the author quotes an extract from the article of the scientist, reflecting his relationship to the prospects of Siberia.
