The article deals with the problem of spatial development of the Russian Federation, the policy of spatial polarization smoothing and polarized development. It is suggested to employ information technologies as an instrument of regional economic policy, which facilitates both cross-regional differentiation reduction and further regional development due to the surge of innovation elaboration.
