Given article is devoted to a history of studying the question concerning an origin of Irmenskaya cultural-historical generality on the territory of forest-steppe Western Siberia. The author analyzes points of view expressed by various researchers for the period from 1920s to the beginning of XXI century. The work shows changing researchers’ notions about origin and cultural development of the given generality dated from the epoch of Late Bronze.
