The development of glass industry in Siberia is one of the major components of development of this art in Russian and world art. Introduction of sodium sulfide in glass production was an outstanding achievement of Russian chemical applied science in the XVIIIth century. It was connected with a name of the Russian academician, the Finn by origin, Kyril Grigoryevich (Eric Gustav) Laksman who have put experiences on glass making technology using sodium sulfide in 1764 at Barnaul for the first time.
