Numerical Modeling of Two-Dimensional Nonlinear Gradient-Drift Instability in the Outer Ionosphere

In this paper two-dimensional nonlinear gradient-drift instability is investigated considering vertical and horizontal non-uniformity of the ionosphere plasma. Small-scale irregularities of electron density generated by the instability development can be responsible for outer F-spread, visible by the satellite-based stations.
