Significance of the Bijsk Fortress in Military and Colonization Policy of the Russian Empire in the Altai in the 1st Half of XVIIIth Century

The evolution of strategic and military role of the Biysk Fortress was in the change of the fortress fortification status and was accompanied by modernization of existing by this time fortifications. To the middle of XVIIIth century Biysk Fortress became an important link in the unified defense system in the Kolyvano-Kuznetsk border-line.
