The article analyzes the problem of social-economic and political interaction of a Kalmyks Buddhist monastic community and the Russian statehood at a regional and All-Russia level. In the second half of XVIIth century a clergy fulfilled not only ambassadorial functions, but also substantially legalized diplomatic process and the foreign policy status of Torgout dynasty. In a period under review a system of mutual relations between Buddhist community and secular authorities of the Kalmykian Khanate and the Russian state turned out.
