The author examines the activity of the periodical press at the beginning of the development of virgin and long-fallow lands in the West Siberia. He analyses the main tendencies and subjects of the articles. The author considers the interaction between the publications and decisions, resolutions of the party and soviet bodies. He makes a conclusion that new period in the informing people about the development of Siberian virgin lands begin after the Plenum of the CPSU Central Committee in August, 1954.
