The oberegs (magic charms) of the children's cycle were the main means to protect Kalmyk baby or a first year child at the end of XIXth - the beginning of XXth centuries and had certain semantic significance. It should be noted that depending on one or another inalienable components the Kalmyk oberegs contain various symbols of definite orientation based on the people's experience and its traditional outlook.
