Indigenous People of the Altai-Sayan Ecoregion: Traditional Environmental Knowledge as a Means for Stable Development

The main components of Altai-Sayan indigenous peoples' environmental knowledge are analyzed with the usage of author's own fieldwork data. These components are shown in connection with the ethnic traditions of wildlife management and current processes of social and economic development. Some possible ways how to apply the natives' traditional knowledge in the field of nature protection are noted.
