Author examines activity of churches and libraries among population of Western Siberia at the second half of XIXth - the beginning of XXth centuries. The church helped in opening libraries where literature was collected "necessary especially for propagation and enlightening work of clergy". Religious literature was a forming world outlook factor in scientific activity of the clergy. State educational tasks in Western Siberia were realized thanks to the work of the clergy, who created eparchy and decent libraries.
