The article is devoted to exploring records and related to them documents concerning office and industrial workers of the Altai Mining District in the XIXth - the beginning of XXth centuries as a historical source. The data base technology allows to analyze documents more correctly. This kind of sources is notable by wide variety. The records of officials are more informational sources in contrast to industrial worker's records. The researching documents contain different facts on the Altai Mining District social history: professional staff of office and industrial workers, their social mobility, history of provincial officialdom and industrial workers, family history and data concerning biography of a person.
