The historiography of one of the most important manifestations of front and home front unity during the Great Patriotic war - assistance of civilian population and local authorities to wounded and ill soldiers of the Red Army is analyzed. The evolution of studying of this problem during 1940-2000 is considered; the main stages in this process are distinguished; merits and demerits peculiar to each of them are analyzed. Special emphasis is given to the description of the modern stage in investigation of this problem. The most significant publications devoted to the main directions of rendering aid to the wounded soldiers during this period are described.
